A product launch film for the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio, shot in Seattle and ILLUXION's studio in Redmond, WA. The Microsoft Surface Visual Design Team brought their vision to life across six days of production — with our motion control robot capturing a single sequence of shots, mimicking the precision, detail, and innovation that defines Microsoft's products.
Approach & Methodology
Per usual, much of this commercial is incredible 3D done by the amazing artists at Microsoft. Our job was to capture a key live-action sequence from 1:36 - 1:49. We built and tested the move prior to the shoot, dialing in timing and finesse, then ran the move in 3 different locations. This sequence is a perfect example of the kind of moves that can only be accomplished by a motion control robot and makes the viewer step back and think "Whoa".
